This variety of Cypress is also known as Mediterranean Cypress. It is
a coniferous evergreen tree that can grow to 115 feet tall. It is a
long-lived tree that can reportedly live to over 1,000 years old.
The tree has been cultivated for a millennia and can now be found many
miles from its native area—including in Europe and in the US. It is
interesting to note that the doors to the St. Peter’s Basilica in the
Vatican City are made of Cypress.
